Reincarnation Comparison Guide
From DDO Compendium
Hello again, adventurers! I am Kruz, the Reincarnation Trainer. I’ve seen you in the House Jorasco, admiring my precious Tree and considering Reincarnation. I know what you’re thinking…

The answer is simple, my friends: to be a better you! There are many ways in which to Reincarnate, and many outcomes that may come from Reincarnation, so choosing the right type of Reincarnation can be overwhelming.
It’s natural to want to cling to parts of your old life, and to be uncertain about what you will be taking with you to the “other side” in your new life. I thought I’d take a moment to help you map out what type of Reincarnation is best for you so you can take the plunge with a clear conscience.
Reasons to Reincarnate
Everyone seeks me out for their own purposes. For some, it is the lure of a more powerful character. Others seek to wash away the mistakes of their old lives. By selecting one of our Reincarnation options (and allowing me to burn your body to ash to feed to my Tree), your character has a second chance without necessarily losing the things you hold dear! You can read more about the basics of Reincarnation, and a general overview of Reincarnation types in our General Reincarnation Guide. Now, I know that you’re pondering a very important question before you decide your fate:
What You Keep, Gain, or Lose
When you Reincarnate, there are three things that can happen to the various aspects of your character. You can keep something you already had, gain something you never had, or even lose something when it is BURNED TO ASH to feed to my Tree. I’ve created a handy chart to show in more detail what happens:
- If something in the chart is marked with the green check mark
, it means that it is a part of your character that will remain unchanged from your old life. Once you’re finished Reincarnating, it will be as though nothing happened to it.
– If something in the chart is marked with the green plus sign
, it means that you acquire a trait or bonus you didn’t have before on that character.
– This is my favorite part! As part of the Reincarnation ritual, certain parts of you must be cleansed in glorious ritualistic fire to create the ash necessary to feed my precious Tree. If something in the chart is marked with the flame symbol
, it means it is something that is removed and/or reset on your character. This is a good thing in many cases! When you complete a Reincarnation, it will be as though those things never happened! If it’s something inherent to your character (like skills, feats, or your face) it means you’ll have a chance to select it from scratch! If it’s something you had to earn or unlock (like favor or raid flags) you’ll have to re-earn it in your new life. The
symbol means it’s a fresh start from scratch for that particular feature. Pay close attention when you see this sign to make sure it’s something you don’t mind resetting or giving up!
Reincarnation Comparison Chart
Below is a chart comparing various types of Reincarnation. If you see an asterisk (*) be sure to check the clarification text at the bottom of the chart for any exceptions or important details!
*The number after the plus (e.g. +1, +3, etc) indicates how many levels you may affect during the Reincarnation. Class levels are based on the level at which they were taken.
**Wizards are an exception. They cannot reselect spell choices, but they will retain all spells that were chosen or inscribed into their spell books.
I hope this guide assists you in selecting which type of Reincarnation is right for you. For all available DDO Store offers, be sure to visit the DDO Store Sales & Promotions page on DDO.com.
