As a Necromancer you will focus mainly on negative energy for your damage spells and will have the ability to create and control undead creatures. You will, however, only have a few helpful spells with which to protect yourself or assist allies.
When you are without undead minions, you will be relatively unprotected and will need to rely on your allies to block or immobilize enemies to keep them from damaging you too much. In time, however, you will learn powerful negative energy spells which are capable of instantly killing many types of creatures.
