Lifetakers and Heartbreakers

The Lifetakers and Heartbreakers guild started like so many pen and paper games – a collection of personalities who didn’t know one another joining together in a tavern. It was the One-Eared Bugbear, and our heroes were asked to address the Hobgoblin problem in Tangleroot Gorge. It took two days / eight hours for Kohbal, Clavicus, Lew, Jynx, Wanigas and Baramount to finish the quest this first time around, but they built the foundation for a new guild that would become a fixture on the Ghallanda server.

Nearly two years later, the guild is now approximately 70 active members strong and includes numerous alternate characters on two servers (Ghallanda and Khyber). Despite having members come and go from the game, the principles that were formed on that first day in Tangleroot are still manifested in our user population today:

Teamwork: We take care of each other, and ensure that everyone shares a successful role in the adventures.

Fun: We like getting experience points and quality loot as much as the next player, but the enjoyment of playing the game and the camaraderie it brings remain our primary goals.

Reality: We know that real life comes first. If your spouse/kids need you, work calls or you need to drop off in the middle of an adventure due to a real-life crisis, we understand. We’ll wait if necessary. We have grown to be such a close-knit group of friends that we'll have plenty to talk about in the meantime…

The bottom line is this: DDO is a game. It’s meant to be fun and to be social. That means that we will likely not be the first guild to beat the new quest on elite, or to have all capped characters within a week of playing the game. But we will guarantee you that we’ll have the best time doing it…

I know plenty of guilds say "we focus on the fun", but I assure you that the Lifetakers TRANSCEND fun. We're FAMILY. Once you join and quest with us, you will not find a more caring, welcoming experience anywhere else in DDO.

Raiding

We have recently dedicated several of our officers to schedule regular events. This includes scheduling the more common raids and the prerequisites necessary to run them. Although many of our senior members regularly raid the higher content, we have lots of new players to DDO that do not regularly run the raid quests.

If you are new to the game, we welcome you to visit the Lifetakers and Heartbreakers website and see if we'd be a fit for you! One of our officers can run some quests with you to make sure that our play styles are the same. We also welcome smaller guilds - either by adding an alt to L&H, or through guild alliances. L&H is presently allied with Face Stabbing Misfits, Sun War Academy and Knights of Myth Drannor which provides a larger base of opportunities to participate in the growing list of DDO raid adventures.

And, if you're not interested in raiding, that's fine too. We have what I believe is the server's largest collection of "rerolling alt-o-holics" experimenting with characters and running with new DDO gamers who rarely get characters up to do much 'intense raiding'.

Recruiting

The Lifetakers and Heartbreakers guild does not have a formal application process like many of the other larger guilds. We don’t want you filling out forms when you could be playing the game instead! Our policy is simple – spend an evening or afternoon questing with one of our officers. If you’re play style matches ours, we’ll be glad to send an invitation to join.

We have several couples and families in the guild - if you and your spouse, children, sibling(s), etc. play DDO online, we think you will find a great home in L&H!

Send a tell (by typing /send <playername> <message>) to one of our members. They can usually put you in touch with an officer. Or, post at our web forums to arrange to meet us online!
