Typically, +4 protection items are available at Level 11. This does take up the bracers slot which is only good for Strength bonuses now. SO, if you get a Strength +6 Bracers and you are fighter you will replace these.
(I disagree with the above statement, there is one other nice bracer)
(item, and that is the chaosgarde <+2 dodge AC> and I use on my ----)
(pally/rogue that equips +6 str gloves -----------------------------)
I do make all my characters chaotic alignment so I can get these bracers.
