You earn Action Points as you gain XP.
To buy a new skill with your Action Points, visit a Trainer for your character's class.
Trainers have a green icon over their heads, and a green leaf icon on your Map.
Pressing 'T' allows you to turn the camera without holding the Right mouse button. This mode is useful in combat.
Press 'T' again to exit this mode. You will then be able to click on buttons around the screen.
Congratulations! Your prowess in the fields of battle have allowed you the maximum experience possible for your current level.
You must now find a class trainer to improve your skills and further your chosen path.
When on an adventure, the Adventure Panel, in the top right corner of the screen, tells you your objectives.
These objectives check off as you complete them, and when all objectives have been satisfied, your mission is complete.
You have disabled the auto-targeting feature.

The Auto-Targeting feature allows you to quickly see items, crates, and monsters, and interact with them, without having to target them first using the 'Tab' key.

To defend against an enemy's special attack, press Shift to Block.
Blocking protects against stuns and knockdowns, such as are delivered by Bugbears.
It also protects against other special melee damage effects, including poison.
If you have skill points in Tumble, you can Roll while Blocking by pressing a movement key.
Most crates, barrels, and vases can be broken. Some will even drop items or money.
Stand in front of one of these objects and hold the Left mouse button to swing your weapon.
Vendors are located in shops & stalls throughout the game. They're marked on your Map.
Click on the appropriate tab in the Vendor window to see what you can buy, sell, or repair.
Left-Click on the icon for the item that you want to buy, sell, or repair to add it to your cart. Then Left-Click the 'Buy', 'Sell' or 'Repair' button to execute the transaction.

There are many objects in the world that contain Collectables. You can identify these objects by the mysterious glow that surrounds them.
To pick up a Collectable, Left-Click on it.
The Collectable will be placed into your Inventory.
There are many NPC's throughout the world that will exchange items in return for your collectables.
To cast a spell, Left-click a spell icon in your Action Bar at the bottom of the screen. If it's an attack spell, it'll automatically target monsters in front of you.
Alternatively, you can walk up to a monster and hold the Left mouse button to hit it with your weapon.
During a fight, the monster's health is represented by a red Monster Hitpoint Bar at the lower right corner of your screen.
Hold the Left mouse button to attack the monster with your weapon.
During a fight, the monster's current health appears in the lower right corner of your screen.
Converting your Party to a Raid allows up to12 players to enter a dungeon together.
Only certain quests (marked as 'Raid') can be attempted while in a Raid group.
To change back to a regular party, select 'Convert to Party'.
When you attack a monster, a twenty-sided die, or d20, appears on the right side of the screen.
The result of the roll, combined with your total attack modifier (base attack bonus, strength bonus, etc.) must be higher than the armor class of the Monster you are attacking for you to score a hit.
When you take damage, or deal it to an opponent, numbers will rise from the damaged character indicating the amount inflicted. The color of these numbers can help you to clarify who is being hit, and whether or not you are doing as much damage as you should be doing.
Red text indicates damage being done to your character by your enemies.
Orange text indicates that a normal amount of damage is being done to an enemy by you.
Purple text indicates that you have found an enemy's weakness, and are doing above normal damage to them.
Yellow text indicates that some of your damage is being resisted by your enemy, and you may need to change your tactics.
Additionally, scoring a critical hit on an opponent will make the text appear larger than normal.
Hover your mouse over a weapon's icon to see its properties.
- The Heavy Mace does Bludgeon damage, which deals less damage against Zombies.
- The Longsword does Slashing damage, which deals less damage against Skeletons.
When you encounter a monster, you can quickly switch to the best weapon for it -- if you set up the Weapon Set slots in your Inventory window ahead of time.
Skeletal undead are best attacked with crushing weapons, such as a mace, club, or hammer.
Fleshy undead, such as Zombies, are hurt more by slashing weapons, such as swords and axes.
Your character has died.
Another player or hireling can take your Soul Stone to a Resurrection Shrine to bring you back, or you can recall to your Bind Point. You can also buy a Siberys Spirit Cake from the DDO Store to bring you instantly back to life.
Dying causes wear to your items. If you recall to your Bind Point your character will also suffer penalities for a few minutes.
The dungeon's Difficulty setting affects how hard its monsters are. Harder settings give you better XP (experience) and treasure.
When you finish the highest Difficulty setting available, then the next highest Difficulty is unlocked
You cannot use Hirelings in the Solo setting.
To disable a trap, select the glowing Control Box with your Right mouse button. Next, click the Disable Device icon in the toolbar at the bottom of the screen.
This uses up Thieves Tools from your inventory.
You have selected to enable integrated voice chat. This feature is only supported for broadband users. Attempting to use voice chat over a modem connection will result in poor sound quality as well as degraded game play performance.
Be sure to use the Microphone Test button below to verify your microphone setup before using voice chat in the game.
Dungeon Entrances are demarcated by swirling runes. Left-Click between the runes to have your character enter the dungeon.

You've earned a Favor Reward from this character. As you complete quests you earn Favor with various different Patrons. When you reach the city of Stormreach, keep your eyes open for Patron Agents who grant Favor Rewards.
To check your Favor, first click on the book icon on the top left of your screen to open the Adventure Compendium, then select the Patrons tab.
Open the Social Panel, Ctrl+G to find other players to adventure with.
Players can find parties and parties can find players by placing ads in the appropriate tab.
You can also find a party for a specific quest by clicking on the button by the quest, in the Quest Journal, L.
Or you can invite players you see in-world by selecting them and using the Focus Orb Invite button.
If you're looking for something to do, look in your Map.
Yellow Chalice icons are people who have work for you. When you approach one, you'll see a glowing Chalice floating over the NPC's (non-player character) head.
If a trap is nearby, use your Search skill.
It's one of the icons on the Action Toolbar at the bottom of the screen. Left-Click the magnifying glass icon.
You may need to Search different parts of the room. If you succeed, you will see the glowing Trap Control Box on the wall.
In the chat window, you can type /glossary for a list of game terminology you can look up.
To look up a word, type it following the /glossary command.
For example, to look up 'critical hit', type in /glossary critical hit.
An NPC with a Gray Chalice over its head will not give you its Quest yet. You must complete some other Quests in the area first.
When the NPC's icon turns into a glowing yellow Chalice, it'll have a Quest for you.
Remember to keep an eye on your red Hitpoints Bar to make sure you don't die!
- If you have healing spells, you can use them to restore health.
- If you have potions that restore Hitpoints, you can drag them from your Inventory window to your Hotbar, and then click on the potion's icon on the Hotbar to drink it.
- If you do not have healing potions, you can purchase them from the DDO Store.
Remember to keep an eye on your red Hitpoints Bar to make sure you don't die!
- If you have healing spells, you can use them to restore health.
- If you have potions that restore Hitpoints, you can drag them from your Inventory window to your Hotbar, and then click on the potion's icon on the Hotbar to drink it.
- If you do not have healing potions, you can purchase them from the DDO Store.
Otherwise, you will need to find a Rest Shrine in this dungeon to heal yourself.
The red Hitpoints meter on the left side of your screen tracks your health -- your character is hurt!
If you Left-Click on the blue Rest Shrine where Cellimas is resting at, you can heal this damage.
Hints appear throughout the Tutorial Experience to help you learn about the game. You can click on any hint to display more information.
Clicking a hint a second time will close it.

You can buy Gold Seal hireling contracts through the DDO Store. Gold Seal contracts allow you to have up to five hirelings at the same time - one regular hireling plus four Gold Seal hirelings.
Your health is represented by the Hit Points Meter, the red bar above your chat window in the lower left of the screen.
If it empties, you become incapacitated and may have to start the adventure over.
Your character is hurt! -- It's a good idea to only enter dungeons when you Hitpoints are full.
Your Hitpoints gradually restore themselves when outside of a dungeon, but they'll replenish faster in a Tavern.
In Taverns, you can also buy food from the Bartender or Tavernkeeper to regain Health or Spellpoints even faster -- but this tavern food will only work there.
Make sure your Hotbars have the weapons, healing potions, and abilities you need before combat.
Weapons and Potions are in your inventory. Press 'I'
Feats, Spells and Skills are in your Character Sheet. Press 'C'.
Drag a square-shaped icon into your Hotbar to place it there.
When you're Incapacitated, you cannot move or perform any actions. You're bleeding out and will die when you reach -10 hitpoints.
A Hireling or party member can save you by:
Using a Repair Kit and the Repair skill on you if you're Warforged.
Using a Healer's Kit and Heal skill on you if you're not Warforged.
There's also a small chance you can recover by yourself.
The 'I' key will display your inventory.
Here you can manage your items, equipment, and weapon sets.
You can Double Left-Click an item or drag it to the character silhouette to Equip it.
One of your items has run out of Durability. It’s broken, and you can no longer equip it or use it.
You can pay any vendor in town to repair your items.
Your equipment can be damaged by some combat effects or monsters.
Hold your mouse over any item in your Inventory to examine its attributes. An item’s Durability is represented by a blue bar. When it runs out, the item breaks and you can no longer use it.

Press Spacebar to jump on top of a crate or ledge.
If you're having trouble seeing where to go, hold the Right mouse button while moving your mouse forward & backward to move your camera up & down.
To jump off a ledge or down a hole, just walk off the edge. If it isn't too far down, you won't be hurt.
To climb a ladder, walk up to it and press 'W' to climb up.
Press 'S' to climb down.
When on the ladder, you may use the Space Bar to jump off.
Congratulations! You have achieved the the maximum level currently available! You will continue to receive experience points, however your total experience pool will now be capped.
When a door is closed, using nearby Levers will often open it.
Left-Click the lever to use it.
(Alternatively, you can press the 'E' key.)
Remember, you can use your Map to find the entrances to dungeons, even those that are well hidden. Press 'M' to bring up the map, then look for yellow door icons. If you don't see any, explore a bit more, then check your map again.
While holding the Right mouse button, you can move the mouse forward & backward to look up or look down.
If you have Mouselook mode on (T on the keyboard) then you don't need to hold the mouse button.
Alternatively, you can use Keypad 8 and Keypad 2 to look up or look down.
Items sometimes drop upon the ground.
To pick an item up, stand close and point your camera at it. Then, Left-Click.

You are dangerously low on health - you should drink a healing potion or have a healing spell cast on you. You can also buy powerful healing potions at the DDO Store from anywhere in game.
Press 'M' to bring up the Map.
Mapnote icons on the Map can guide you to your goal. A yellow door indicates a dungeon for which you have a quest.
You can always press 'M' to open your map.
Hold your mouse over any map icon to see what it is.
If you click on a map icon, a white arrow on your Compass (the small round map) points to that place or person.
There's a wealth of information by in the Game Control Bar in the upper left corner:
- The Character Sheet - information about your character.
- The Inventory - the items you're carrying.
- The Quest Journal - Information on the quests you've taken
- The Adventure Compendium - A summary of all the quests & patrons in the game.
- The Social Panel - Information about other players in the game
- The Main Menu - Adjust your game Options or Logout.
This meter will let you see when you have properly configured your microphone for voice chat.
Adjust the Microphone Gain and Capture Threshold until the meter appears green while you speak in a normal speaking volume. Sounds below the capture threshold will not appear. If the meter appears red and the word 'Clip' appears, you must reduce the Microphone Gain to avoid sound distortion.

When you hit a monster, keep an eye on the color of the damage number over its head.
- Purple means it's taking extra damage from your type of attack.
- Orange means it's taking normal damage.
- Yellow means is taking less than normal damage, and you should switch to a different weapon or spell.
A good rule of thumb is that ice monsters take extra damage from fire weapons, and vice versa.
In mouse-look mode your camera turns without needing to hold down the Right mouse button. This mode is useful in combat.
To select something, point the cursor at the center of the screen at it and single Right-Click.
Holding the Right mouse button unlocks the reticule from the center of the screen.
Press 'T' to toggle mouse-look mode on/off.

When you get better weapons or armor, you need to equip it in your Inventory to actually use it.
-- Press 'I' to open your Inventory, then double Left-Click your new item to equip it.
If you equip a bow, you also need to equip arrows in the Inventory's 'Ammo' slot.
Switch between weapons by dragging them into your Hotbar and clicking on them.
For a weapon & shield, drag them into the same Weapon Set slot in your Inventory. Then, drag your new Weapon Set icon to your Hotbar for easy use.

Switch between weapons by dragging them into your Hotbar and clicking on them.

Ooze & Slime monsters are common in sewers. Their digestive juices can damage or destroy your weapons & armor.
Many adventurers prefer to fight them bare-handed so that doesn't happen.

If you have an old weapon that you don't mind getting broken, you can switch to it when you see a slime or ooze.
Most doors can be opened by Left-Clicking on the door. However, some doors are locked and need to be picked by a Rogue.
To pick a lock, Right-Click the locked object to target it, then Left-Click the Open Lock icon on your shortcut bar.
Keep in mind that every good Rogue needs Thieves Tools to pick the lock successfully.
To pick a lock, select the locked object with the Right mouse button. Next, click the Pick Lock icon in the action toolbar at the bottom of the screen.
NPC's with a glowing Chalice above their heads have tasks for you.
Speak with them to receive their Quests.
When you complete a dungeon, the Recall button under your Quest Objectives changes to the Finished button.
Click Finished button to teleport out of the dungeon.
Then, return to the NPC who gave you the quest for your reward.
You must find and pick up Quest Items to progress. They are surrounded by a sparkling effect.
Pick up the Quest Item by moving close and Left-Clicking on it.
You can review your current or completed quests in your Quest Journal.
To open the Journal, press 'L' or click the Chalice icon on the panel at the top of your screen.
The window on the top-right of the screen displays your Objectives.
You've already completed the checked-off items, so you don't need to worry about those.
The remaning un-checked item tells you what you should do next.
If you want to use a Ranged Weapon, you must first equip it in your Inventory.
Then you can Left-Click to shoot at any monsters in range.
Remember that as you explore new areas, you'll need to seek out a Tavern to rebind at a Spirit Binder.
Otherwise, you're in for a long walk the next time you fall in a dungeon!
Welcome to Stormreach! As you explore new areas, you should seek out a Spirit Binder in Taverns and have them bind you to the new location.
That way, if you fall in a nearby dungeon you won't resurrect in a far-away place.
You can find Taverns with Spirit Binders by looking for the Tavern icon on your map.
Remember, Red Named Bosses are much tougher than their regular counterparts, and are immune to many kinds of attacks and spells. They are difficult to defeat, so plan your engagement carefully if you want to survive.
Boss monsters have a Red Name above their heads. This means they are tougher than their minions and are immune to some special attacks and effects, such as Charm spells.
If you really liked this dungeon, you can now replay it on a higher difficulty setting for more rewards.
Simply speak with the NPC that originally gave you the quest, and ask to repeat it.
Rest Shrines with a glowing moon restore Hitpoints & Spellpoints.
If you are in a Party and one of your comrades fall, you can bring him/her back to life at a Resurrection Shrine.
To do so, pick up your fallen comrade's Soul Stone and Left-Click the Resurrection Shrine.
Using a Rest Shrine with a glowing moon restores Hit Points & Spell Points.
After a Shrine is used, it takes 5 minutes to recharge. Dungeons on higher Difficulty settings take longer, or don't recharge at all on some settings.
Left-Click on the Moon Shrine to use it.
While in a Tavern, you can talk to a Spirit Binder. You will then be resurrected there if you fall in battle.
Spirit Binders can also cure you of ailments such as poisons or curses.
This is a Resurrection Shrine. These shrines can bring a party member back to life. As a ghost, just Left-Click on the shrine to use it.
If you die too far from the Resurrection Shrine, your party members can pick up your Soulstone and carry it to the nearest Shrine. Your ghost will then be able to use it.
If you think a hidden door is nearby, stand close to it and use your Search skill.
It's an icon on the Action Toolbar at the bottom of the screen. Left-Click the magnifying glass icon.
The Select Difficulty Panel gives you basic information on the dungeon you are about to enter.
Normally you would be able to choose your Difficulty setting, but that is disabled here.
Click the OK button to enter the dungeon.
Rogues can deal massive damage while in Stealth mode. To activate your Sneak ability, Left-Click the Sneak icon in the action toolbar.
While sneaking up on an enemy, Eye icons appear near your character. One Eye icon means you are well hidden, while three eye icons mean you are not. Heavier your armor makes it harder to hide.
Once in melee range and behind your victim, attack! Your first attack receives a heavy damage bonus, allowing you to quickly finish it off and move onto your next victim
Every spell you cast costs Spellpoints. When you run out, you may no longer cast spells.
This is tracked by the blue Spell Point Meter beneath your Hit Points Meter.
You slowly replenish Spellpoints in Towns or Taverns. You regain all your Spellpoints at once by using a Rest Shrine.
Wizards and Clerics (also Paladins and Rangers at higher levels) can change which spells they use at a Rest Shrine or Tavern. To do so:
1) Open your Character Sheet (C)
2) Left-Click the Spells Tab.
3) Click on the L1 tab
4) Drag a new spell into a slot at the bottom of the panel.
5) Drag the icons from the bottom of the panel to the Shortcut Bar.
You can now click on the Shortcut Bar to cast those spells.
Activate your Sneak ability to use your Hide and Move Silently skills. Do this by Left-Clicking the Sneak icon in the action toolbar.
Many enemies have a difficult time detecting you while you Sneak. Standing near light sources will make it easier for them to see you.
To surface quickly, hold the Spacebar.
If you can't see where you're going, you can look up & down by Holding the Right-mouse button while moving your mouse forward & backward..
When underwater, be sure to monitor your Breath Meter; if the blue bar depletes you will take damage.
Hold the Right mouse button while moving your mouse forward & backward to face the direction you want to swim. Then press 'W' to swim forward in that direction, or 'S' to backstroke.
To surface quickly, hold the Spacebar.
When you walk up and stand closeby to an NPC (non-player character), Left-Click on the character to start a conversation.
You can start a conversation with any NPC (non-player character) you meet in the game.
Just stand close enough, and Left-Click on the NPC.
Your character is hurt!
When inside a Tavern, your character regains Hitpoints at an increased rate. You can also buy food from the Bartender or Tavernkeeper to regain Health or Spellpoints even faster -- but this tavern food will only work inside Taverns.
You regain Hitpoints and Spellpoints faster inside a Tavern.
Most town areas have Taverns. They appear on your Map as a Green Mug icon.
Enter a Tavern by Left-Clicking on its door.
You can buy items from the DDO Store using Turbine Points at any time in the game - even when you're deep in a dungeon!
A selection of key DDO Store items is available on the island of Korthos. You'll unlock a wider variety when you reach the city of Stormreach.
To Trade with another player, select one and press the Trade icon in the Focus Orb.
Drag items from your Inventory into the Trade window.
Review their offer, and when you are ready to trade, click the Accept button.
You can ignore Trade requests by clicking Accept Trade Requests in the UI Settings screen in the Options Panel, Ctrl O.
Traps can do serious damage if you run into them.
Rogues can disarm traps. If you have a Rogue in your party, you can ask him or her to disarm a trap for you.
Some NPCs can take you to different destinations all over the world of Eberron.
These Travel NPCs show up as a green compass star on your map.
Each one is also easily identified by the green compass icon floating over the NPC's head.
When you complete a dungeon, don't forget to check nearby Treasure Chests for loot!
If you're in a party, and you want to give an item to one of your comrades, use the Drop-Down Menu below the item to change its owner.
You can only do this while the item is still in the Treasure Chest.
Left-Click on the chest to open it.
Then Left-Click on your items to add them to your inventory.
Press 'I' to access your inventory at any time.

You'll be granted free Turbine Points as a reward for earning Favor from finishing dungeons. Playing dungeons on higher difficulty settings rewards more Favor, allowing you to gain Turbine Points quicker.
Look in the DDO Store to see what you can buy with your Turbine Points. (Ctrl-S)
Some doors can be selected by a Right-Click.
You can open these doors by walking up to one and Left-Clicking on it.
Once you locate a hidden door, it can be selected with a Right-Click just like a normal door.

Each scroll can cast a single spell before it disintegrates. If your character does not meet the skill requirements to cast one, it'll have an X through its icon. To use a scroll:
1) Find the scroll you want in your Inventory
2) Drag the scroll's icon onto your shortcut bar.
3) Click on the scroll icon in your shortcut bar once to equip the scroll.
4) Click the scroll icon a second time to cast its spell.
Wizards may permanently learn the spell on the scroll using the Inscribe Scroll skill. This requires Spell Inscription components.
Combat Areas are private instances, playable only by you and your party members.
They are full of Monsters and other dangers, as well as XP Rewards for overcoming them.
You will need to travel through Combat Areas to find some of the Dungeons. Be sure to check your Quest Journal for directions. You can also check your Map for the tell-tale dungeon 'door' icons.
